Re: Ernest Martin Skinner - American Icon
I urge all to find and read a copy of "The American Classic Organ, a History in Letters" by Charles Callahan. This is over 400 pages of letters, illustrations , etc. between many American organ builders and Henry Willis in England. Many are letters between E.M.Skinner and Willis, in fact more than ...

No longer for sale: my Classic keyboards
My wife would not allow it! So withdrew offer. Now my HW set-up is together and playing again.
I even practice, though the weather is very hot and humid this time of year. Still the Salisbury Cathedral (Father Willis, 1877) is terrific! Best to play early in the morning.

3-manual stack/with beautiful key cheeks
These are Classic midi works "Pro" keyboards each with 20 round, silent piston buttons.
Key cheeks were purchased from Brett Milan; they were fabricated by an organ console
builder. Will ship from Hawaii via UPS Ground (by air to mainland, then on via UPS truck).
Price: $2750.00

Re: How long since you last played or no playing right now?
Several months! Seems I have gotten too old to remember pieces once learned.
So have just quit. Will sell what I can of my rig; see on in stuff for sale by individuals.

Re: Main HW Icon won't load organ that plays....
Rob Stefanussen of MDA found the problem and solution: "Please go to General Settings -> Audio Outputs and select your Echo audio interface from the "Audio output device" dropdown for each item in the left list. Also, please go to the MIDI Ports screen (General Settings > MIDI Ports) and ensure that ...

Main HW Icon won't load organ that plays....
However, a another icon which is used for convol reverb will load and play any of my sample sets. In fact, the main HW icon does not show a green midi light on the midi indicator, bottom of the screen display. First time in the years I have had HW4 that such a situation has occured. Yet the third ...

8 Years Ago Today
May 17, 2004 I discovered Hauptwwerk (Krumhorn Labs then) and joined this Forum. Within 2 months, I had added MIDI output from the manuals and pedals of my Allen console, put together a PC using dual AMD Opteron CPUs, had Martin's HW 1 app., and a couple of early sample sets. Eight years pf pleasure ...

Re: Which Hauptwerk features, posts most impressed you in 2K11?
Perhaps fitting along in this topic is the question: How long will HW last? That is available and continuing to be upgraded? Maybe depends upon the ages of Martin and Brett. Would be very interesting to know those numbers. I rather guess Martin to be, maybe 36 years and Brett perhaps 41 or so? Have ...

Re: organ music and going deaf
Have a look at the following articles. Maybe you would then want to go to Radio Shack and buy a sound pressure level meter; cost some $40 to $50, or so to measure the dbs of spl as you play. Get the digital meter, it can lock to hold a reading. See this chart and short text: m Specific to being too ...

Language of Music
Not music theory, I think. I cannot play by ear; cannot play using chord symbols (I believe there are some 212 or so chords); nor obviously improvise music. I am heading for 78 years of age, had my first piano , lesson at about 12 years old, and at about 33, my first of a few years, now and again ...

Re: advice on the best computer for a 4 man Hauptwerk system
If you want the "best" computer, with 32 GB of RAM and 8 cores of CPU, go for the Apple Mac Pro. Cost from an Apple Store, or online, just over $5000, $5049 exactly. Will drive two displays as is. But you must be comfortable with the Apple operating system. Audio is excellent as everything is ...

Re: Salisbury Willis Vol II?
V1 required three DVDs. All the rest of the stops then, will
probably use 6 added DVDs--pretty large for a single volume II.
