Re: Notes suddenly dropped out from Caen set

Apologies, I was too quick to resort to the Forum (nice as that is). I opened another instance of Hauptwerk and opened the organ from there, and all was fine. I guess the particular Hauptwerk instance simply got corrupted. Sorry to have wasted time. All best wishes to you Martin and to everyone for ...

Notes suddenly dropped out from Caen set

Hi Martin, all, After years and years of trouble free and wonderful Hauptwerk use - so it's years since I logged onto the Forum - I suddenly today have the weird problem of lots of (non surround) notes having disappeared from the Great manual on the Caen surround set. It seems to be every seven ...

Re: Total freeze

Hello Martin, Just to report that this problem is now solved (or at least worked around). I had noticed that the RAM modules were getting very hot, and attaching Arctic heat sinks to those seems to have done the trick so that the full 32Gb of RAM will now pass a full 6 hour-plus MemTest test without ...

Re: Total freeze

Hello Martin, Ian asked me to help on this, and I thought I'd feed back where I've got to, in response to your very helpful advice. This definitely seems to be a hardware problem. Carrying out a Memtest diagnostic with a bootable USB stick, the PC freezes up in the course of the test if more than ...

Re: Playback audio routing with Audiofire 12

After a bit more experimenting, I see there is an option in Reaper (admittedly marked 'not recommended', but seems to work OK) to specify different input and output sound devices, and this allows you to use Reaper to route audio out through multiple channels of the Audiofire 12 while specifying ...

Playback audio routing with Audiofire 12

Not a Hauptwerk-dedicated question, but I'm hoping someone will be able to help with some advice. I have an Audiofire 12 connected by firewire to a MacPro. This gives great multichannel routing when playing Hauptwerk live. But I also want to use more than one pair of speakers when playing back audio ...

Re: Direct Sound and HW4

Many thanks Martin. We'll follow your advice and replace the interface (probably with an Echo Audiofire - I've been very happy with mine). We well and truly exhausted all the avenues with E-MU and their drivers when trying to sort this out in 2008. Thanks from Ian and from me for the lightning ...

Direct Sound and HW4

I've today been helping a friend load up HW4 on his PC which uses an EMU 1616 soundcard with its Direct Sound drivers. (As covered in a different topic on this Forum in 2008 - http://forum.hauptwerk.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=3036&start=0&hilit=INTEL+ASIO - we've never been able to get the ASIO drivers ...

Re: Holst's Neptune from The Planets?

Very interesting question! I wonder whether the various sources are right to say that Neptune was ‘originally’ scored for organ. Holst’s daughter, Imogen, has written that: “owing to his neuritis [Holst] had difficulty in playing the preliminary sketches of his orchestral works on the piano, and for ...

Re: Announcing: PAB Extended-2

Hello Csaba, I had in mind being able to increase or decrease the registrations using the crescendo wheel (as now), but being able in real time to manually override the combinations programmed for the crescendo wheel either by adding stops (which is possible now) or removing stops which have been ...

Re: Announcing: PAB Extended-2

Hello Csaba, Might it be possible to add even more functionality to the crescendo pedal? I'm only just beginning to experiment with this, with some extra swell pedals installed this week, but I can already see how useful the crescendo pedal will be for playing orchestral transcriptions, including ...

Re: Hauptwerk status update

Hello Brett, Martin hardware requirements are effectively halved to run a given sample set. This is excellent news, and I'm very pleased it's what you have prioritised. Actually I had no idea it was possible for you to work around the huge processing demands of the Caen Surround/ PAB, and was ...

Re: Fonts and Backgrounds

Hello Brett We've added the default prosilver forum template which you can choose in your User Control Panel. Click on Board Preferences then switch from the Hauptwerk (previously named se_pro) template to prosilver and it will change your settings for the forum style. Thanks for this. I couldn't ...

Hi Bob, Out of curiousity, what signals will you be sending from your Midi 2 out back into your Midi 1 input? I ask because I'm also using an E-MU 1820 in XP-64. In my case I have both Midi 1 and Midi 2 inputs taken up with separate midi inputs from the console. I use LoopBe only when I want to ...
