Re: World famous organ of Martinikerk Groningen will come

Dear Jiri, As the Martini organ requires Hauptwerk V, I would advise to offer it to the public while the discount for upgrading is still active. And for us to enjoy it most, before the Christmas break. For myself being able to play this very fine instrument would be a big incentive to switch to HW V ...

That's great news! I just love the Zenta sampleset and had been listening to demos and trying it myself, so this will be an extra push to get it for myself.

Re: Touch sensitivity in midifying console using photosensor

Dear Fransbart, I see you are looking for additional ideas after our phone call. I have tested the ELI TR9904 with a Teensy (I think 2.1). The basic setup works, I have tested it with 8 keys, but I have not tested it for performance yet. I use the analog read in, which depends on the amount of ...

Re: Grosshartmannsdorf vs. Zöblitz

Regarding "public" performances: The license agreements of MDA (but also of SP and many other sampleset makers) states that you have to ask for permission to perform in public. This includes recordings on Contrebombarde and Youtube. I guess usually this permission is granted. To perform in church ...

Re: New Joachim Richborn Baroque Sample Set

I was always impressed by the livelyness of the recording, but didn't buy the organ yet. With the new version and comparison with the old version it becomes extra interesting. I've now put it on my wishlist and hope to acquire it sometime this year.

It's very versatile, that's certainly true. My Teensies have arrived in the mail today and they are certainly tiny. Now I just need to find some time to play.

Re: Teensy 2.0++ Pedalboard, Pistons and Expression Pedals

In case you haven't see this yet, you don't need the I2C bus to have many connections, you can use the 4051 element like this: http://www.pjrc.com/teensy/td_midi.html . This is what I plan to do.

Re: Teensy 2.0++ Pedalboard, Pistons and Expression Pedals

My current plan is to make it an analog input, so you can in principle choose when each key is pressed, pick a different point at which it is depressed and add midi velocity, provided the read out time is fast enough. Also each key can be calibrated separately. So far this is just theory though, and ...

Re: Teensy 2.0++ Pedalboard, Pistons and Expression Pedals

Your other post got me interested, so I ordered two 3.1 boards. Though the pin lay-out is different I guess most of the code is the same. I intend to midify some wooden manuals using optoswitches, either by using multiplexers or in a matrix form. I hope I can get the pull down resistors to work ...

Re: What's your usual practice footwear?

I always wear my normal day-time men's shoes for practice and performance and don't have an extra pair for the organ, though i'm now considering to use the pair that has a hole at the top for this. I've been using those kind of shoes since I was 15, so compared to my classmates I had overly mature ...

Re: Holzey Organ

Prospectum is run by volunteers. Whenever they have enough free time and interest to work on their sample sets they will do so. So the relevant questions are: is Holzhey (still) the first sample set to come and are there any personal circumstances which prohibit you from working on it. The latter ...

Re: V. Lübeck shows the organ in St. Cosmae, Stade

Actually, about Bach it was said that he was evenly strong in all his 10 fingers, so you can use your thumb in his music when necessary. For older music, the thumb and the little finger are weak fingers over which you have little control. Therefore they are very often avoided and not necessary ...

Re: What keeps you motivated?

What also helps is a teacher, so you learn new things about music and about how to play it. This can overcome the limitations of your current technique, and I would highly recommend it. I learned so much more these last years. If you can't find a teacher in your area, you may also be able to take ...

Re: First intermediate results with a dummy head mic system

Very interesting to hear the organ this way. Probably this is the best way to hear the organ, like you are actually there. But the question is if de-noising also cancels the directionally effect. You may also have less opportunity to voice the organ at will without losing some effect, as you ...
