The forthcoming Hauptwerk v2 also supports ASIO drivers, but the current version only supports DirectSound, so I'm afraid you probably won't be able to use the RME cards which seem not to support DirectSound for some reason.

Hauptwerk's core audio engine threads already run at real-time priority, so I don't think it will make much difference. In fact, it might actually reduce performance slightly, since you would be promoting the non time-critical parts of the program to run at an equal priority to the time-critical ...

Remember that there is a big difference in processor requirements between version 1 and version 2. For a 70 stop organ in v2 you would need a great deal more processing power than for v1. I have yet to give a recommended specification, but it is likely to be a dual 64-bit system, depending on what ...

Do you have the correct drivers installed for the sound card? If not, then the MIDI port may not be reported to Windows by the card. I believe that all sound cards with a 'game port' are MIDI capable, but it is possible that there are some that aren't. What is the model of the sound card? You can ...

Hello Jim, All that you should need to do is to make sure that the channel number in Hauptwerk matches the channel number on which the console keyboard encoder transmits MIDI. E.g. if the pedalboard on your console transmits on channel 1, then you just need to set the the input path 1 (pedal) in ...

Hello Mark,

I do plan to look into offering pre-built systems with Hauptwerk pre-installed and configured (i.e. something not dissimilar to an expander module) via a third-party once version 2 is finished.

Thanks,
Martin.

Hello Christian,

I have been contacted by some sample set producers who have asked that I don't publish such a poll, since they consider such information to be commercially sensitive. Sorry.

I don't think that would actually work, I'm afraid, beacuse there is a fixed limit of about 8 MB on the size of any one sample.

I will test and aim to include the necessary linker options in the executable for the 32-bit version of Hauptwerk v2, but I don't intend to produce a new release of Hauptwerk v1.

The '0' in 'C0' means that the MIDI channel is 1. 'C' means that it is a program change message. Thus 'CB' means 'program change on channel 12' (B=hex 11, add 1 since the numbering starts at 0). WRT notes hanging, check that it is not caused by known bug 11 - see the known bugs page. That occurs ...

Reversible piston program change messages are 'listened for' by Hauptwerk on all MIDI input channel/device pairs that are active for any of the MIDI input paths. E.g. your console seems to be sending them on channel 15 (or 16? Some programs start numbering at 0, others 1), so you would need to make ...

At least it's not just me that takes longer than planned to get releases ready! Hauptwerk v2 need not wait for XP-64 - there will be a 32-bit option in the installer as well, so that can still be used with XP-32 and will have all of the new features, subject of course to the 2-3 GB memory limit ...
