Google warning on Sygsoft site

PostThu Oct 29, 2015 3:05 am

Hello,

Does anyone know anything about the Google warning "This site may harm your computer" which appears on searches for Sygsoft or Hauptwerk.nl ? Is there a real threat? I have accessed the site via the list of instruments on the Hauptwerk site so perhaps I now have some malware on my computer, though I haven't notice anything yet.

Google keeps a black list of websites which it suspects host malware. There are frequent false-positives and from what I heard it can be quite a nightmare getting your website removed from these blacklists. Chances are that these websites were wrongly put on this black list. Martin and Brett would clearly not link to any websites they think would contain harmful code.

If you have an up-to-date virus scanner, an active firewall and up-to-date flash and javascript I doubt that your computer will be affected. If you have downloaded any software from these websites and run that it might be worth scheduling a full scan on boot-up (many operating system files can't get scanned after the computer is booted).

No such warning on my mac, with avast anti-virus enabled and my Google account active. After opening and browsing the Sygsoft website I scanned my computer with Malwarebytes and I found nothing. Also, the Sygsoft website doesn't use Flash neither Java.

Thanks for your replies. I have scanned for malware and viruses with nothing found. Perhaps this is simply a false positive on Google's part.

More than a year ago, the Norton 360 security application I have on my HW computer compromised my ability to access Hauptwerk, presumably as a "protection." I changed some Norton settings and was able to restore my HW computer to normal function.

A few of months ago, Norton 360 attacked again, but this time more aggressively and arrogantly: it removed Hauptwerk from my computer (fortunately only the application itself, not the files). I immediately contacted Norton/Symantec, pointing out that Hautpwerk is immeasurably more desirable, reliable, and professional than Norton, however esoteric HW's niche. With Martin's approval, I filed an exception with them, including the official HW download URL for their analysis. They subsequently white-listed Hauptwerk.

I am not surprised to read of other uninformed judgments.

I am moderator of this site and have no idea what has happened.
A few months ago I get messages from customers from South Africa, Chile, Peru etc. They could not connect to my site. Then I have uploaded my site again and afterwards I had no more complaints. Yesterday I have scanned my computer (takes an hour of 10) using Microsofts Security Essential and have no problems found. The only thing I can do to ask my provider to delete my website totaly and upload it again. Calculate therefore my website will be possibly the next few days unreachable.

In advance I apologize if I would have damaged something on your computer. It is strange than on a "real" computer (a Mac.) nothing is going wrong as Gérard Lefranc wrote.

Looking here https://www.stopbadware.org a message is shown that they do not have a record of that URL's ever having been blacklisted by our data providers. Google and Mozilla are their data partners ...

Hello Fred de Jong,

Sorry you have had this trouble with your site. No harm has been done to my computer.

As you say it is strange that the warning does not appear on the Mac. I also get the Google warning on my iPad as well as my Windows computer. I think it must be some sort of mistake by Google as it only appears with a Google search for Sygsoft or Hauptwerk.nl

Welcome to the world wide maffia. I have deleted my whole site, created a directory "images" with one picture in it. Next I have uploaded a very short new "index.html" file with the message this site is hacked.
Type now http://www.hauptwerk.nl in your browser and you will see this index without problems.
Type now in your browser (I use chrome) site:hauptwerk.nl and you see 518 infected links to my site. The strange thing is that none of this links exists at the moment while I have totaly deleted my site. My conclusion as a layman is: Google also belongs to the internet mafia.
In other words: I do not have the knowledge and patience to solve this problem. So I think this must be the end of Sygsoft.

Hello Fred,
Yes this must be most annoying for you.
I presume you have requested a review of your site from Google.
If not you might find this useful:

Thanks for thinking along,

"I presume you have requested a review of your site from Google."
No, some customers told me there are problems.
I asked for help from EvertJan. Describe technical problems in English is very difficult for me and he is Dutch which makes it easier for me to communicate.

Why Infected? They look fine to me. The whole website (accessed from any one of these links) seems to look and work just fine. I've never seen any Warnings or Errors about your Site from Anybody... Google or Anti-Virus or Windows or Fire-Fox or what have you.

Could it be that everything is really just fine? Please don't give up yet, your website and products are just too valuable for that!

Very strange, you have to see at the moment not my site but a message like
"I am sorry but this site "www.hauptwerk.nl" is hacked and therefore at the moment not available."
But, don't worry, with help of Evert-Jan I am busy to re-upload the site and seeking for leaks.
Regards Fred.

It looks like you will almost certainly need to work with Google to resolve this:

https://support.google.com/websearch/answer/45449?hl=en&rd=1

Scroll down to "Remove the message from your site"

Best of luck!

Thanks John,

I leave it on for Evert-Jan, he is the specialist. I have the idea the job is done for 90%.
