Features in next version of Hauptwerk?

PostWed Mar 23, 2016 12:05 pm

I guess this is for Brett :-)

It has been quite a while since the last update, any hints as to what might be coming and when?

Hello Brad,

We're not divulging what the current features/updates for the next Hauptwerk release will be. You will just need to wait for its release to find out. Sorry!

Hello all:
HW requieres millions and millions of data flowing during any instant...Sometimes it occurs to me that the more complex HW program is, the less reliable, more troublesome and more computer demanding than a simpler one would be.
Am I also this time completely wrong, Jack?

Ha, ha, Louis,

This time you are totally right, AFAIK.

Enjoy,

I agree. The more complex the program, the less reliable it may become. Hauptwerk is the most reliable program I have. I too like clocks but a couple of widgets is all you need for that. (I am using Windows 10.)

I am somewhat of the belief that "when something works don't fix it". There is nothing wrong with the latest version of Hauptwerk.

I am an engineer and a designer and am of the belief that any product that is not continuously improved starts to die. :P

Right also, but also perhaps could be feasible and convenient to have two or more versions of the same product according to the consumer needs. For instance, I now prefer a simple IIWWlike Jeep rather than an ultraelectronic computerized and sophisticated car with many things that can fail and make the user overdependent of someone else.

Recently, a great pipe organ I am related to, was "improved" with sophisticated equipment with a "web mess" of cables to control ranks trackers to fraction of inches and allows 6000 stops combinations...What for?

Anyway, Martin and Brett know well what will be the course of action for our beloved HW.

Luis

I Tuned and Repaired Pipe Organs, and they are the reverse of the quote below.

With proper repair and tuning a Pipe Organ will Play beautifully for numerous Decades,
Install a computer between the Console and the Pipes, and Reduce its life expectancy many fold !

"I still thank Hauptwerk for providing our ability to have a great organ in our living Rooms" ! :D

I second the request for a metronome. Clocks are useful, but we can always use an external one. If we're playing through headphones, we can't use an external metronome so easily.
I still have a very small website

Thanks for the suggestions. Yes -- we do actually already have those logged as enhancement requests for the future. Just for reference, this is the intended place to submit any other enhancement requests, which ensures that they'll get considered properly: https://www.hauptwerk.com/forms/suggestions/ .

Although I really do not understand the text, this fellow`s contribution seems to be useful for incorporate a metronome in our instruments:

Hello 162_Ranks,

Hauptwerk v5 is still very much in development, but will still be some way off yet. Please bear in mind that it's a huge amount of work to develop a major new version (typically several man-years of work) and we have very finite development resources, and development work has to be fitted in around providing support, so it inevitably takes some time. However, I do believe and hope you will find the wait worthwhile once it's eventually ready. Thanks for your patience.
Best regards, Martin.
