actually my screen is set to 1600x1200, and since my computer is not totally close to the console I am using a wireless mouse to control the stops (haven't gotten around to building the stop controls yet) and so the bigger the window the better! I wish HW would not be so constrained resolution-wise and that scaled all the buttons/graphics on the fly depending on the resolution. I will probably just continue changing desktop resolutions before launching HW...

The demos sound really nice, congratulations!

I definitely think this sample set deserves a V2 version...
Sounds very nice.

St. George's Casavant Sample Set - Introductory Pricing

Only 4 days remain for the introductory price of $120 CAD. After October 23 2006, the price will increase to the low price of $150 CAD.

The St. George's Casavant Sample Set has 37 different sampled ranks (mixtures being considered one rank only). The quantity and quality of the samples combined with this very low price makes it a great deal.

Another demo http://organsamples.com/Andriessen-Intermezzo.mp3 has been created using Hauptwerk 2 (imported HW1 St. George's Casavant Sample Set). This demo is Hendrik Andriessen's Intermezzo played live with the following registration:

Swell: 8' Salicional, 8' Salicional Celeste 8'
Pedal: 16' Subbass, 8' Erzähler (coupled from Choir)

External reverb was added using a Lexicon MX200 Dual Reverb Effects Processor.

Other new demos have been uploaded to the Exemplum Organum's St. George's Casavant demo-page http://organsamples.com/StGeorgesDemos.htm

Best regards,

Ken

Andriessen Intermezzo demo

PostThu Oct 19, 2006 9:48 pm

Can anyone advise who published/arranged the Andriessen Intermezzo demo piece? I cannot locate an organ version, only a 1950 flute & harp composition. In any event, certainly a lovely short piece.

Dick, I am sorry, I cannot identify the publisher. I recorded this from a book I borrowed from the library. (I believe it was from an anthology)

Next time I am at the library I will try to track it down for you.

All the best,

I went to the library and was able to find the book with the Andriessen Intermezzo. It is from a Dutch book, second in a series.

Cover and opening pages contained the following information:

CANTANTIBUS ORGANIS

ORGELSTUKKEN
VAN MODERNE EN OUDE MEESTERS
II
(c) Copyright 9-10-1957 by WED. J.R. VAN ROSSUM / UTRECHT / HOLLAND

This 48-page book includes a number of short works by different composers including Jean Titelouze, G. Frescobaldi, Lambert Chaumont, Charles Hens, Helmuth Walcha, Flor Peeters, Henk Badings, Louis Huybrechts, Han van Koert, Albert de Klerk, and Gabriel Verschraegen.

If that book is not available anymore there is someone in Zaandam in the Netherlands who has quite a collection of secondhand music. His internet address is:

Stop for Christmas:

On many occasions when playing the St. George’s Casavant Organ, I want to solo the Oboe stop with a Celeste accompaniment. This was not possible because the Celeste 8’ stop and the Oboe 4’ stop are both located the same division (i.e. the Swell). So I created an Oboe 8’ stop on the Choir Division by duplicating, reshaping, and extending the Swell Oboe 4' stop.

I am making this new stop and the corresponding ODFs available to past purchasers as a free download. If you have previously purchased the St. George’s Casavant sampleset and have not received an Email from me containing the download details within a day or two, please let me know.

New orders for the St. George’s Casavant sampleset will include this new stop along with the corresponding ODFs at the same low price.

Here is an MP3 that features this new stop:

I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

I love getting feedback and suggestions from customers. A number have made some great suggestions for the St. George’s Casavant sample set.

New Configuration04 ODF is now available.
(click the following link to view the HW2 optimized version http://organsamples.com/Screenshot_-_StGeorges-c4-HW2.GIF) The new configuraton was created as a result of suggestions from Mick Berg. In summary the new Config04 is similar to the Config03 except:
• A new stop “Super Octave 2’” is added to the Great division: It is a duplication of the Choir’s Doublette 2’ stop and it is loaded independently so that its volume can be different (increased), and so it is not under the control of the Choir’s expression pedal.
• Some amplitude adjustments (increases) were made to the Great Octave 4’ and the Great mixture stops. These adjustments plus the new Super Octave 2’ stop, have resulted in a new sound to the Great division (providing more clarity and a crisper sound particularly suited to the baroque repertoire).
• The Great Trompette 8’ stop was borrowed for use in the Pedal division.
• The Swell’s tremulant depth setting was reduced slightly.
• The amplitude of the Choir’s III Zimbel rank was reduced slightly

Here are two examples of the differences in the sound of the Great division:

The opening measures of BWV 533 (GT Prin 8’, Octave 4’, 2’ stop, and IV Mixture):
- played with Config03 (the 2’ stop is the Wald Flöte 2) http://organsamples.com/Demo-Config03.mp3
- played with Config04 (the 2’ stop is the new Super Octave 2) http://organsamples.com/Demo-Config04.mp3

From the middle section Buxtehude’s Passacaglia (played full organ on the Great without reeds or 16’):
- played with Config03 http://organsamples.com/Demo-Config03-Passacaglia.mp3
- played with Config04 http://organsamples.com/Demo-Config04-Passacaglia.mp3

I am sending the new Config04 ODFs to past purchasers. If you have previously purchased the St. George’s Casavant sample set and have not received the Email from me containing the new ODFs within a day or two, please let me know.

New orders for the St. George’s Casavant sample set will include these new ODFs at the same low price.

Happy New Year!

As might be expected, I am thrilled with this new version of the St. George's organ. All the beauty of the original is retained but the organ now has that little bit more "oomph" that I thought it needed for the bigger Baroque pieces. I hope that other owners will like it too. Many thanks for your excellent work, Ken.

This Phelps Casavant is a favorite of mine. I spend most of my practice time with the version 4. Ken, please take the time to set it up in Hauptwerk version 2. It is a great buy as version 1. But I would be willing to pay for version 2. Maybe you could extend the Bombarde to 32' while your at it.
