Organ tourism - Suggestions?

PostWed Jun 01, 2016 7:25 am

It is our plans that in about a month and a half from now (i.e. July) my friend Costas (forum member costasnicolaidis) and I shall attempt a trip abroad so we can visit (and, hopefully, play) some famous European pipe organs, as well as visit other important landmarks. So far, we have two different ideas for our trip:

#1: Road trip. Destinations: Szeged, Budapest, Esztergom, Vienna Salzburg, Graz, Zagreb. Possibly also the coasts of Dalmatia.
#2 Flight to Paris, visit local churches. Possibly also a road trip from there to Chartres, Rouen or another nearby city featuring famous organs.

Now we have just two questions:
1) Which of the two would you recommend?
2) How can we come in contact with local organists and visit the instruments?
Thank you in advance.

"PipeDreams" Michael Burone conducts tours each year. A friend just attended the Northern England and Scotland 2016 tour. This may be of interest in the future since it includes tours of these churches and cathedrals as well as concerts.

Try this site and select "Tours".
