Manual Coupling systems

PostSun Mar 12, 2017 3:26 am

Hi all.

Can anyone explain me how does mechanical coupling work in organ? There are many different ways to couple keyboards. Can you tell me how some of them works? If you have any pictures, I will be happy if you showed me. :)

As a start and just for an impression of the possibilities, you could perhaps have I look at the pictures included in the 10th post of this page on another forum: http://www.organforum.com/forums/showthread.php?8927-Organ-Coupler-mechanism

Hi,

on the homepage of Laukhuff (organ parts) you can see the different ways to couple keyboards:
http://laukhuff.de/assets/8.pdf => see from page 13 and following

It would certainly be possible to have Laukhuff, or any number of other builders, construct a pedalboard/keystack for HW that was essentially a "truncated" tracker system with fully mechanical inter-manual coupling, etc.

On the other hand, if I had the $$$$ to do that, I'd probably be in the market for a private jet, or Lamborghini Veneno, or maybe a small island in the Mediterranean instead. Much more useful :-)
