Hauptwerk/Pipe Hybrid Organ concert

PostThu Sep 14, 2017 9:36 pm

There will be a concert using the hybrid Pipe/Hauptwerk organ at Catonsville United Methodist Church on Sunday September 17th at 3:00 PM.
This will commemorate the 50th anniversary of the 1967 Möller Pipe Organ installation. The organ combines the original 29 ranks, 37 stops, of pipes with 35 digital stops which were added using Hauptwerk software in 2015. The Hauptwerk modifications have been previously discussed in this Forum thread:

Hauptwerk users within driving distance should find the installation fascinating. While still basically a pipe organ, the digital stops add fullness to the ensembles, more authority to the pedal, as well as numerous new solo voices and combinations. We have received many favorable comments as to the the realism of the Hauptwerk stops.

Local organists Ted Dix and Donald Fries will share the program. The church is located at 6 Melvin ave., Catonsville, Maryland which is about 30 miles north of Washington DC.
