US customers ordering from UK sample set producers?

Hi all,

If a person from the US orders a set from a UK sample set producer, do we just pay just the exchange rate difference (in this case US Dollar to British Pound), or are there additional fees or taxes that we in the US pay as well on top of the exchange rate?

Past orders I've placed from other vendors in Europe only involved the difference in exchange rate, (i.e., no other taxes, etc.), so just wondering if anything is different in this case.

Thanks,

Marc

I'm considering the Armley set (as one potential vs. another) from Lavender Audio, so dropped them a line to get the answer to this question.

Hi Marc:

I found my PayPal receipt when I purchased the A-S (4/57) and shows a straight conversion no other fees added. :)

Since the UK is still (for the moment) a member of the EU, transactions with UK suppliers should happen in exactly the same way as with other EU suppliers.

Also since we are now dealers for Lavender Audio you could contact us and we will handle the ordering for you. You can use PayPal for cash transfer or credit card we take care of the fees.

Thanks for the info guys! I figured it was just a matter of paying the exchange rate as I've done on other orders and David did reply to me this afternoon. It appears for customers in the US that as long as the set is downloaded and nothing is physically sent out, there are no extra fees.

Thomas, I sent you an email.

Thanks again,

Marc

Apparently, anything less than $800 doesn't count for import duties anyway.

It is convenient to use Paypal currency conversion, but I warn against it. PP adds approximately 3 percent conversion fee. The better method is to pay by credit card in local currency and let the card provider do the conversion. This is set in the small link Options for conversion.
Traders are even charged a 5 percent conversion fee if they allow other currencies. However, these can be blocked in the merchant account.
I'm sorry for this digression, but I think it's important.
