I've been waiting since Thursday morning.
Apparently they don't work on the weekends.
Maybe today I will get my update.
I don't care what the 'excuses' are, this is a terrible business model.

Have you checked your Junk Mail? Sometimes items accidentally end up in there.

Hello Peter,

Our apologies for the longer than usual turn around for your license. It was sent back the other day you should have gotten it by now. Please let me know if not.

Due to the increasing number of Hauptwerk customers and new instruments available updates are taking longer than usual. As discussed in another thread I wrote we are working on an entirely new licensing system as we realize the current system is not ideal and takes longer than we would like to get our customers their updates. With the new system licensing will be nearly instant!

Thank you again for your patience! I hope you enjoy playing the new organ you purchased.

I just got a licence update back, less than *20 minutes* after sending the request in.
Thanks, Brett!

Peter,
I am glad you are now playing the Dingelstaedt.
Are you enjoying it?
Have you mastered all the switches?

it must be quite hectic there :) did send a request on tuesday by the webform, but didn't feel like that was working well, might be by my connection. To be sure, and as told by the sample set seller, did send a email on thursday .. past night (friday for me) i received a request to send the file by the webform .. for me this gets a bit confusing:

do we have to send it after we got the sample set, or
do we have to sent it after receiving the request by MDA
do we have to send it by webform, or
do we have to send it by the email as given by the sample set seller

Would be easier to have one method.

Yes to these.

hans0166 wrote:Would be easier to have one method.

This is the one method. Just follow the instructions. The sample set producer provides the sample set while MDA provides the license. These are 2 separate actions. See page 11 of the Hauptwerk User Guide for version 4.2.1.

it's obvious not the one method because sample set sellers (or at least one) put something different in their manual.

That's correct. Some sample set producers choose not to license (in other words protect) their sample sets using the dongle (USB key). That is their decision. These un-protected (not licensed) sample sets can be used without going thru the procedure (method) as referred to in the HW manual.

There is only one method to be able to use the (licensed) sample sets that are protected That is to use the method (procedure) as explained in the HW manual.

Hauptwerk's USB key is also used to license some third-party sample sets. As with the Hauptwerk license itself, these licenses are stored within the USB key and so the sample sets you have purchased will work on any computer, provided that your Hauptwerk USB key is attached to that computer at the time. If you buy such a sample set or you upgrade your Hauptwerk license, Milan Digital Audio or the vendor will contact you with instructions to allow us to update your Hauptwerk USB key remotely, which is a simple procedure that takes only a few moments. The USB key needs to be updated before you will be able to install or use the sample set. As with Hauptwerk's license, because the sample set licenses are stored inside the Hauptwerk USB key, there is no need to update the USB key again if you change any computer hardware or re-install.
Note that you need to be able to send a small file from your Hauptwerk computer, and to receive another small file back (each less than 10 KB) onto your Hauptwerk computer in order to update your Hauptwerk USB key. Usually these files are sent by email. However, if your Hauptwerk computer is not connected to the Internet, you can simply save them to a write-able CD, floppy disk or USB memory stick to transfer them between your Hauptwerk computer and another computer that has Internet access. Thus you do not need Internet access from your Hauptwerk computer.

As Brett mentioned, MDA is working on a new protection system.
