I've made a lot of Hauptwerk v4.-4.2 samples, but my sample sets are unencrypted. I haven't received any information so far, but if I understand it, my 4.2 samples will work smoothly in version 5 as well. So far I have had great help with CODM. My question is whether there will be an improved version of CODM or some other help or tools to make a sound sample.

No, that's not true unfortunately. Samplesets written in the HW4 (4.2) format cannot be loaded in HW5 !! Only in HW4. All new formatted and encrypted samples will need to be issued for version 5 and onward.

This is not quite correct.
See http://forum.hauptwerk.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=17781&start=15#p133215.
Unencrypted, unprotected sample sets in HW 2 - 4 formats will load in HW V.

A reboot of an alien invasion TV series is coming? Was V really that good?

I just purchased the boxed set at Morrisons (supermarket) a bargain at £15.00

I intend to upgrade to V and have iLock installed. I have two Hauptwerk consoles situated at opposite ends of my house. After I have upgraded will it be possible to keep one console on HW 4.2 and carry on using the old dongle while having the other one on HW V? I often go to use one and find that the dongle is on the other one. It is a minor inconvenience but can be annoying at times!
Looking forward to the V experience.

Dear Julian,

if you have 2 dongles with separate licences and running on 2 different computers, then it should be no problem to upgrade one of them and not the other. Would not be possible to switch between your installations though, as there is no supported way of running both 4.2 and V on the same computer.

Dear Reiner
Thanks for your reply.
I thought that upgrading to Hw V might automatically cancel the Hw4 licence therefore making the old dongle unusable.

Re: V is coming- future sample sets and HW version

I have understood that some sample sets producers intend , for some time at least, to issue their new sample sets in both V.4 and V.5 formats. That seems an interesting compromise, allowing people who don't wish to upgrade immediately ( or can't ), to have , nether the less, the opportunity to access to new organs.
For instance, will the announced set of Groningen be issued in both versions ?

That is actually true. But if you have two dongles with separate licences, and you upgrade ONE of those dongles and the associated licences, then the licences on the second dongle should remain untouched, as upgrades are per HW dongle/licence. So if I understand correctly, when you have two HW4 dongles now, and you upgrade one of them to HW V, then that one HW4 dongle will indeed be made unusable, but the second dongle with the second licence is treated independently from that (so will need a separate upgrade when you wish to migrate that one too).

Dear Reiner,
Thank you and fully understood.
I only have one license.

If you buy a full version of HW5 (not an "upgrade"), then you will have TWO licenses! Use HW5 on one of your consoles, and continue to use HW4 with the old Dongle on your other console. Just NEVER allow HW5 to see the old Dongle... and then no harm to the existing licenses can occur!

And this way, you'll always know which console has the Dongle! :)
