Instrument search?

PostMon Jan 06, 2020 10:58 pm

What happened to the prior website's instrument search functions? We could search by number of manuals, builder, vendor, geographic region, etc. Can those search features be returned the the new website?

It seems that we can search instruments by 5 categories (vendor, style, location, builder, manual) now :D

How?
What I see now is just a long list of instruments that includes those categories of information, but not a way to search by category any more.

I believe this function is still available, but not obvious. On the Hauptwerk.com site, select "Learn" and you will see "Instruments" at the bottom of the menu pull-down. The search field on the instruments screen is now very general, e.g. type in Germany and you will see all German organs. A lot of other fairly general search entries seem to produce a good list of organs meeting the criteria.

There are quite a few organs missing from the instruments list. A more up to date list is at pcorgan.com.

How do you get the search bar to work? When I enter anything there, the search symbol changes to an X and it won't search any term.

For me, using MS Edge, if you start typing anything into the search box it will progressively filter the results. So by the time you have typed in 'har' (no quotes) it will be showing only the harpsichords. The 'X' simply clears the search term. Other browsers might behave differently I suppose.

Thanks! I see how it works now.
