Are Forum Notifications Not Working?

PostThu Nov 16, 2023 9:30 am

Maybe it's just me, but even though I've checked the "Notify me when a reply is posted' box, I haven't been receiving these emails on my last couple of posts. Anyone else having this problem? Yes, I've checked my spam folder. And I checked the box on THIS post.

I am responding to my own post because I still am not receiving notifications on a post, even though I checked the box. Does anyone else have that problem?

Hello David,

I don't usually have that option turned on when I post, but I've turned it on for my reply here as a test, so if you wouldn't mind posting a reply then I can let you know whether the forum notifies me accordingly. Thanks.
Best regards, Martin.

I didn't know this was an option, so I just enabled it as well. I don't recall ever getting emails from this forum!

Hello David,

Since larason2 has now replied, I can confirm that the "Notify me when a reply is posted" option when posting does indeed work properly for me (I received the forum's notification email). If you haven't done so already, perhaps check that the email address on your forum account is correct, and that the notifications aren't ending up in your Spam folder.
Best regards, Martin.

My email address is correct and they are not in my Spam folder. I will try adding the email address to my 'Safe'' list. What is the domain of the notification?

Hello David,

The forum's domain is "forum.hauptwerk.com", and the forum server is set to use the server's 'mail' command for sending (not SMTP), and the 'from' address on automatic emails is "support [at] hauptwerk.zendesk.com" (with the 'at' symbol). If I look through the full headers from the "Topic Reply Notification" email that I received from this topic the following domains feature (aside from my own personal email domain as the addressee).

Hence for good measure maybe try adding all of the following domains to your 'safe' list:

- forum.hauptwerk.com
- hauptwerk.com
- hauptwerk.zendesk.com
- zendesk.com
- milandigitalaudio.com
- us507.directrouter.com
- directrouter.com

... as well as the "support [at] hauptwerk.zendesk.com" email address (with the 'at' symbol).
Best regards, Martin.

Thanks, Martin. I've entered all of those. Let's hope it works.
