Reverb in Hauptwerk

Ideas for improving the Hauptwerk software.

Reverb in Hauptwerk

Postby daveyspen on Sun Nov 16, 2008 8:32 pm

I have seen various posts in the past regarding including reverb in Hauptwerk, and it being a future enhacement.

I am experiencing unwanted noise with the "free" software reverb included with my Emu soundcard and have decided that it really needs to be fixed. There is a compromise on the settings of hauptwerks speed/polyphony, balanced against how much noise the reverb makes.(despite having a quad core system). I am about to buy an external reverb processor, but before doing so- thought I should check if the Hauptwerk reverb convolver is just around the corner? is it less than 6 months away?- trying to decide whether to wait a while longer or buy a Lexicon to add to my Milan 3-31 system. Thanks

Hello Dave,

Unfortunately we can't give a time frame yet for the native Hauptwerk reverb function. At a very rough guess I would say that we won't have it available for at least another several months. As always when we have information available to share with the public we will announce it as soon as we can.
Regards,

I am using a lexicon reverb with my masterworks 3/31 wurlitzer. It sounds great and i guess using an external reverb will make less of a strain on the computer.

Its about 6 months since I posted this and I wondered if there is any news yet. I could always go for a Lexicon, but I am keen not to use anything which uses Jack Plugs for In/Out connections - due to previous noise issues with tarnished connectors. I have recently been using devices with Optical connections only, and find them superb. I consequently wish to keep everything totally digital and not have to insert a physical connector in the audio chain. Hence my interest in the Built in Reverb for Hauptwerk.

As Brett often said (quote from a previous post about HW4):

Brett Milan wrote:Features for Hauptwerk 4 will be announced when it is released and not before. A release date is not yet set. Be rest assured we're working very hard on it and progress is going well, the magnitude of changes though do take time to implement.

Yes- Point noted- but nobody has yet confirmed or denied IF the next version will include reverb or not.

I am not trying to get pre-release information on the next software release- I just want to know whether I should buy an external Reverb unit or if I wait a little longer for one which may (or may not ) be included in the license I have already purchased. :D

It will definitly not be included in the license you already have. You'll have to upgrade to the next version for sure to get the new features.

This has been true since the days of HW1, and not for want of discussion!
