Free Ott-Orgel available for Hauptwerk 2

Postby cdatzko on Tue Jan 31, 2006 5:49 pm

Dear friends,

The Ott-Orgel is available for Hauptwer 2. I NEVER thought this would be possible so soon. If it wasn't for Reiner Suikat (http://www.pipeloops.com/), it wouldn't be true today. I mean, this is the first publicly available free Hauptwerk 2 organ (except St. Annes of course), just as it was with Hauptwerk 1!

Reiner decided to use the Ott-Orgel as a demonstration for his new conversion service. Everybody (sample set provider) who would like to use his service, too, I can only recommend it. He is competent in all parts, friendly, patient and dedicated to offering a good quality service. If you look up his service offer at http://www.pipeloops.com/html/hw2_definitions.htm, you can see that his prices are so low, it should be illegal ;-) (don't be fooled by the screenshot on his website, we tweaked the looks a little bit, for the curious among you I made a screen shot available at http://orgel.datzko.ch/screen.jpg, .png for high quality picture).

Please note that there are TWO different download packages. One package is a complete installation package, suitable for everybody who didn't have the Ott-Orgel before (and those few of you who like complete things, like me). The other download package (which is 100 times smaller and thus recommended for everybody who can use it) contains no sample files. These are reused from the Hauptwerk 1 version anyway, just some renaming is necessary, but this renaming can be done via prepared batch files.

Please be easy on the server. I upgraded my line, but most probably the smoke will rise like two years ago. The complete package won't be available for download via a2t.net until I have checked back with Andreas and Ole from ottorgan.utra.net will have to download the files before offering an download.

I'd like to have another word to all of you. I would like to say thanks for some things. Thanks to every downloader for accepting the Ott-Orgel. MANY of you have downloaded it. Thanks for all those people who used the Ott-Orgel as an example for their programs. Few of you might know that I "only" created the Ott-Orgel as a university project. It has become sort of an institution in the Hauptwerk community, being small and simple, but seamingly powerful enough to demonstrate things on. I kind of like that...

Well, Gentlemen, start your wind motors, go to http://orgel.datzko.ch/ and let the bits & bytes & megabytes flow.

And, please be patient if you have support requests. Since I don't make any money of this I won't be able to donate much of my (very limited) time.

Christian.

Thanks for the thanks.

One thing has been noted and confirmed: With the wind modeling turned on the Ott-Orgel plays a semitone too high. Please be (very) patient on this one, play around with the settings (page 2) or turn off the wind modeling for more accurate tuning. We'll work on it, but won't put too much time into it.

ooopss,

sorry, didn't realise that I had an error in the odf-file before I read the remark here about the pitch being wrong. Anyway, its already corrected and I just mailed an updated file to Christian. I'm sure you will be able to download it shortly.

Thanks for the thanks and enjoy!

Best wishes

Hey,

The first free organ for HW2... This little organ permits a different view on the Organ.
Thanks Mrs Datzko and Suikat!

Dear Hauptwerkians,

we are almost there. Reiners update can be downloaded from http://orgel.datzko.ch/archives/Ott-Orgel_XML-Update_Feb01_2006.zip. This is ONLY the ODF (XML) file, replace your version in the HauptwerkSampleSetsAndComponents\OrganDefinitions directory AFTER the installation of the Ott-Orgel. You still need to download the Ott-Orgel-Installation package. If you cannot or don't want to use the wind model, this update has NO effect for you. This update is not yet perfect, as the pitch is not really at 440 Hz. Once we have a completly finished version, there will be an Ott-Orgel version 2.01 which will serve as one package for both Hauptwerk 1.21 and Hauptwerk 2.00. And, yes, I'll make an update package from 2.00 to 2.01 containing only the necessary files.

Alright, everybody, have fun.

Christian.

Just a short note:

all files are available for download from ottorgan.utra.net right now. Please use the HTTP-Link at http://orgel.datzko.ch for the correct download-links.

Free Ott-Orgel available for Hauptwerk 2

Postby jocr on Thu Feb 02, 2006 11:09 pm

Now that the Ott-Orgel is more or less stable and well-tuned, I prepared a little tutorial on making reversibles and changing output levels, with some extra tricks (auto record, general reset) thrown in for MIDI programmers:

http://www.phantorg.net/hw2demos/ottrev.htm

This a cross-posting.

Quick info: I mentioned Hauptwerk 2 and the Ott-Orgel yesterday at the session of the Forschungsstelle für Musik- und Medientechnologie (Research Department of Music & Media Technology, http://www.fmt.uos.de/), which I am a member of, and will be able to make a demonstration at the next session. After all the Ott-Orgel startet out as an university project for me.
