Apple released a public beta version of their forthcoming OS X 10.11 'El Capitan' version today.
Just a brief note to say that the current version of Hauptwerk (v4.2.1) is not compatible with it in the following respects:
- Hauptwerk's installer can't be run, since OS X no longer supports the version of Java that the v4.2.1 installer requires. Hence it isn't possible to install Hauptwerk v4.2.1 on OS X 10.11.
- The driver for the Hauptwerk USB key also can't be installed, so Hauptwerk can't run in licensed mode.
- (Also note that some audio/MIDI interface drivers aren't yet compatible with OS X 10.11.)
(In other respects Hauptwerk v4.2.1 works fully with OS X 10.11 and performs as well as previous OS X versions.)
Hence please don't install the beta version of OS X 10.11 yet if you want to use Hauptwerk on it. We'll be adding support for OS X 10.11 in its final public version with a Hauptwerk v4.2.2 patch later (hopefully in time for OS X 10.11's public release, assuming the necessary third-party components are available for supporting it, such as an updated version of the USB key driver).
