Help Me Find this Magnificent Krebs Fugue, Please!

PostSun Mar 09, 2014 8:23 pm

I had a recording of Krebs' organ works, and unfortunately lost it. The first two tracks on the CD were of a Prelude and Fugue in C major. Krebs apparently wrote many in this key. The prelude was kind of choppy, long, and not particularly beautiful, but the companion Fugue had a very long theme, and the whole thing was incredibly long- just under 10 minutes, if memory serves me correctly. Krebs did everything with that fugue theme- it was magnificent!

I am trying to find which one it was, and then find the music. The Organ Historical Society used to sell a complete edition of Krebs' organ music, but now I can find only Volume 3.

My mistake! It was in G major, not C major. The Fugue was about 7 minutes long. I guess it will be in the Breitkopf & Hartel complete Krebs edition.

No, not that one either. The fugue theme goes from major to minor to major in its first entrance. There doesn't appear to be any numbering system to Krebs' works like the BMV of Bach!

Luis,

Thanks a lot! This is indeed it! Where on earth do you find music online like this? What search engine do you use? I have a hard enough time finding who publishes the music I want to BUY!

So, it was this one then ;-) (the fugue starts at 9'42)

Henrius:
Please look at this link:
http://www.worldcat.org/title/fugue-en- ... ef_results

In the above mentioned institutions you can find the sheet music. Perhaps someone can get a xerox for you or get the book by means of inter-univerisity exchange.
