Eugène Reuchsel

PostThu Apr 03, 2014 2:47 pm

Hello all,

This composer - Eugène Reuchsel - was unknown to me until a friend of mine sent me a copy of just one piece. I tried to look for more his pieces but I was able to find and listen only his Promenades en Provence:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Promenades-Prov ... n+Provence

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j9hH96aaXu8

I am wondering if someone could tell more about Reuchsel's music. I would like to buy a copy of the Six Concert pieces - en hommage a la memoire d'Aristide Cavaille-Coll, the La Vie du Christ and the Huit Images de Provence but I don't know nothing about those pieces.

Will Reuchsel test me to the extreme?

Thanks

Tom

Hello Tom. I do not know much about this modern composer, but you can get his works here:

Is the La Vie du Christ very difficult as well?

Reuschel's music is often on the difficult side. He was a concert pianist (most of his programs = one half Chopin, one half Liszt) and there are some consequences for his organ writing. But some of his pieces are also relatively straightforward.

Thank you for all your comments.
I hope if I go for the La Vie du Christ first I won't be disappointed.
