texts used by Max Reger- opus 67

PostTue Jul 07, 2015 2:08 pm

dear fellow Hw ers,

At the moment I am studying the Choral vorspiele opus 67 from Max Reger , and I am curious to know if there is some written evidence (in an a biography or something like that ) that Reger used his harmonices , etc to emphasize the text of the choral he was writing for. ( or maybe for all his spiritual works )

thnx in advance

He definitely did in his Chorale Fantasias. Do you read German? See for example this Wikipedia article on the Opus 52 Fantasias: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drei_Chor ... x_Reger%29
It gives a few examples and the references at the bottom may guide you to some further reading.
