Looking for Organ Teacher in San Francisco, CA

Postby 162_Ranks » Mon Jul 24, 2017 1:20 pm

Hi folks,

I'm looking for an organ teacher in San Francisco CA, USA, hopefully one who would be willing to come to my home for a coaching/instruction lesson every 2 weeks or so. I'm an adult student and fairly well motivated, so I need a coach/mentor more than I need a strict lesson plan.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Brad

Hi Brad,
Have you check with the San Francisco chapter of the AGO? Their website is here: http://www.sfago.org. Or you might try contacting Robert Huw Morgan for a recommendation. He's the university organist at Stanford.

Since you are sort of local to me I'd be insterested in seeing your setup some day...

Classical, sorry it would have been helped if I were clear with that. Anything from Bach to the (simpler) French Romantics. I'd also enjoy hymn playing although I do not aspire to play at a church.

My current level isn't that high - I can learn a Bach chorale but it takes a couple of months to be able to play well, and the larger scale Bach works are out of my reach. But I am eager to improve.
