Listening is a form of learning esp technique

PostTue Jul 14, 2009 3:50 pm

I posted this on another Theatre Organ forum where some interest was expressed.

To extend my listening "area" of Theatre Organ music I have downloaded archive shows from: http://www.musicnostalgia.com/HotPipesArchives.html BTW, this show which originates from Valle Radio - Spain, hosted by Steve Ashley, is excellent. These archives are MP3 files, each current show being 1 hour in length.

I then loaded them unto an SD 4 GB card via anhttp://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B000P1O73A/ref=ord_cart_shr?%5Fencoding=UTF8&m=A18L51YSS6FNZE&v=glance . This writer/player device plugs into a USB 2.0 port and presently sells for $ .01 (no kidding) plus a reasonable shipping cost. A simple task to drag the MP3 files from the computer to an SD card.

I then plug this SD card http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B000P1O73A/ref=ord_cart_shr?%5Fencoding=UTF8&m=A18L51YSS6FNZE&y=glance into a MP3 player http://www.calcellular.com/mp3-fm-player.html?gclid=COPyv_nv1ZsCFeFM5QodrllJKQ which plugs into the cigarette lighter in the car. It "broadcasts" stereo to the car's FM radio (many channels available - just pick an unused channel) with very good stereo quality. This above MP3 player also accepts a USB device, has a headset connector and comes with a remote control. So for under $30 USD, I can take my TO music with me and play it in any car. Especially nice with rental cars when I travel. I should mention the SD card does not come with the player. I happened to have a 4 GB SDHC card which I have only partially filled with slightly more than 60 hours of TO recordings.

Obviously Classical MP3 files including your own could be used. I should add I have vested interests in the above except as I found these on the Web and have been enjoying them.

Rgds,
Ed
