Anyone done a CODM for Metz?

PostMon Dec 24, 2012 11:07 am

I am evaluating the Notre Dame de Metz sample set and would like to experiment with putting the positif under expression. Since the Metz odf is encrypted, I would need to create a CODM to do this. I'm wondering if anyone else has created a CODM for the Metz to facilitate this sort of modification?

I've done some work creating a CODM for Metz and have a preliminary version with some basic voicing adjustments to approximate the odf version. However, I'm having difficulty programming the 32 foot pedal extensions properly. Here is what I have for the Bombarde, which is a 16 foot stop with a 32-foot extension:

Code: Select all
   <rank>
      <RankID>001</RankID>
      <Name>Pedal: Bombarde-16</Name>
      <NumberOfPipes>42</NumberOfPipes>
      <MIDINoteNumberOfFirstPipe>24</MIDINoteNumberOfFirstPipe>
 ...
   </rank>

   <stoprank>
      <Name>Pedal: Bombarde-16</Name>
      <StopCode>2001</StopCode>
      <RankTypeCode>1</RankTypeCode>
      <RankID>001</RankID>
      <MIDINoteNumIncrementFromDivisionToRank>12</MIDINoteNumIncrementFromDivisionToRank>
      <MIDINoteNumOfFirstMappedDivisionKey>36</MIDINoteNumOfFirstMappedDivisionKey>
      <NumberOfMappedDivisionKeys>42</NumberOfMappedDivisionKeys>
   </stoprank>

   <stoprank>
      <Name>Pedal: Contre bombarde-32</Name>
      <StopCode>2021</StopCode>
      <RankTypeCode>1</RankTypeCode>
      <RankID>001</RankID>
      <MIDINoteNumIncrementFromDivisionToRank>0</MIDINoteNumIncrementFromDivisionToRank>
      <MIDINoteNumOfFirstMappedDivisionKey>24</MIDINoteNumOfFirstMappedDivisionKey>
      <NumberOfMappedDivisionKeys>42</NumberOfMappedDivisionKeys>
   </stoprank>

With this configuration, the 32-foot Contre bombarde plays all 30 notes properly, but the Bombarde 16 plays only the first 18 notes of its compass.

I spent some time trying to fix this without success. Any thoughts?

You need to have the 16' start with MIDI note 36, then add the 32' as a lower extension of 12 notes.

Thanks for your reply, Brett. To make sure I am understanding you correctly, do you mean I should define two ranks for the bombarde? One starting at note 36 with 30 pipes, and the other starting at 24, with 12 pipes?

I'm afraid we don't have time to offer step-by-step instructions other than what is offered in the CODM user guide, but the 16' rank is the complete 30 notes, the 32' extension is 12 notes which should begin with MIDI note 24.

Thanks for confirming the approach. I have it working now.
