Format of instruction manuals

PostSat Nov 23, 2013 3:30 pm

Hi.
After a long period of abstention from Hauptwerk due to illness and other things, I have renewed my interest. This means having to read the manuals!

I have a trivial question. Why are the manuals formatted so wide? In order to view them at a readable size,, I have to scroll back and forth, which is very annoying.

Let me say, however, that in every other way, Hauptwerk, is the best presented and organized computer software I have ever had the pleasure of using.

Welcome back, Mick. May good health be yours.

I find a wide monitor works reasonably well when "magnifying" a page.

The main Hauptwerk user guide isn't in landscape format, so I presume you are referring to the CODM manual. If so we have it logged to look at updating its format in the future, however the main Hauptwerk user guide itself is standard portrait format in 8 1/2" x 11" layout.

I just open it in Adobe Reader and do a "Select All" copy and paste the contents into Word so I can read it without a CinemaScope screen.

Great documentation to be sure but difficult to read in that wide format.

I use View->Zoom->Reflow in Adobe Reader and that seems to reformat the text to be more readable.
