Protected Ranks in CODMs

PostFri Nov 13, 2015 4:18 pm

Hello,

is it possible to use a protected rank in a CODM, which sounds exactly as it sounds, when it is loaded from the protected ODF?

There are so many parameters, which may affect the sound of the rank, e.g. Position_..., WindSupply_..., Amp_... etc. How should these parameters be set?

Thanks in advance!

Hello Chris,

You can certainly load protected ranks of samples in your CODM organ definition (unless the sample set producer has specifically disallowed their samples to be used with the CODM for licence reasons, which only OrganArt Media does, to my knowledge).

However, you can't view/copy/reference the voicing and other pipe response parameters that the original sample set producer might have used if their original organ definition is copy-protected. You would need to adjust your CODM ODF rank parameters and voicing to taste (or to give a similar effect to the original organ response, if you wished).

(We do, however have logged an enhancement request for CODM ODFs to be able to reference rank parameters from 'full- format' ODFs.)
Best regards, Martin.

Thanks, Martin. Unfortunately this is the answer I expected.

It would be great it this issue can be addressed in the future!

Thanks again!
Chris
