How to make "virtual keyboards" to show their status

PostTue Dec 01, 2009 2:57 am

Hello Brett/Martin,

I have a lot of fun with the CODM.(Building a 3 manual 36 stop custom Organ)
The more I work with it,the more I discover new endless possibilities!
There is one thing I can not get to work yet.
How do I make for example the Swell and Choir keyboards to show their coupled status with the Great
(with other words ;I like to see the keys go up and down when I play the Great)?
Same applies when the Pedal is coupled to one of the keyboards.
I know it does not make a difference on the musical result but it makes a great impression on the audience.

Thank You and all the best,

Hello Martinus,

Have a look at this line in the CODM:

<CoupleDestinationKeyboardRatherThanKeyAction>N</CoupleDestinationKeyboardRatherThanKeyAction>

That should do it by just changing the N to a Y. You'll need to do this for each coupler you want to use in that manner.

Hello Brett / Martin,

Got the 36 stop custom organ completed with the 3 manuals / pedal.
I used the example organ no 2 as template and it works very well!
One thing remains a puzzle for me;The stop sounds(st Annes) are there but they sound 3 octaves higher.
Yet their pitch is not changed in the definition file(>8<)
I routed them to the Main output but the stop sounds come from my ceiling speakers....

Channels are:
1/2 Pedal
3/4 Main
5/6 Ceiling 1
7/8 Ceiling 2

Any suggestions?

Thank You!

Hello Martinus,

Check the following fields which relate to the pitch of a sample and make sure the codes match the samples. This example may not be the right settings, but these are the fields you need to check.

<Samples_AssumeTunedToConcertPitchAndEqualTemp>N</Samples_AssumeTunedToConcertPitchAndEqualTemp>

<Samples_RankBasePitch64ftHarmNumIfAssumedTunedToConcertPitch>0</Samples_RankBasePitch64ftHarmNumIfAssumedTunedToConcertPitch>

<Samples_AudioOutOptimalChannelFormatCode>1</Samples_AudioOutOptimalChannelFormatCode>

<Samples_AudioOutOptimalSampleResolutionCode>3</Samples_AudioOutOptimalSampleResolutionCode>

Also have a look at page 21 in the CODM guide which has some information about how to handle noise samples. The important data is:

• Samples_AssumeTunedToConcertPitchAndEqualTemp to Y,
• Samples_RankBasePitch64ftHarmNumIfAssumedTunedToConcertPitch to 8 (meaning 8'),
• Pitch_RankBaseOutputPitch64ftHarmonicNum to 8,
• MIDINoteNumberOfFirstPipe to 60,
• NumberOfPipes to 1

Are you using your own custom samples for the rest of the organ or are you just using St. Anne's and reworking them with additional stops?

I routed them to the Main output but the stop sounds come from my ceiling speakers....

I am not sure if you intend for this or if this is an audio routing problem you need help with resolving?

Thank You Brett,

I'll take a close look at those parameters.
Interesting thing is that all the routing of the stops works very well without a glitch.
Except the stop noises ;they decide to go to the ceiling speakers regardless where i route them.
I'll report back as soon as I get a chance to solve this minor flaw.

Best Regards,
