Non-looped samples (Chimes) how-to?

PostFri Dec 04, 2009 11:47 am

I am trying to add Chimes to an organ. Having looked and searched the forum and the documentation it seems to me that the following parameters need to be set:

<StopRank> ...
<ActionEffectCode>2</ActionEffectCode>

<CustomOrganRank> ...
<IsPercussive>Y</IsPercussive>

I've added a silent loop at the end of each sample, but no matter what I do, the samples play but get cut of when I release the keys...

Any hints?

Hello

Try changing the ActionEffectCode to 1. Since you are specifying the percussive sample in the line

<CustomOrganRank> ...
<IsPercussive>Y</IsPercussive>

you shouldn't need to specify the action effect as percussive also, this is considered a normal action, just that the percussion notes are single shot.

Note that when treated as percussive, loops (silent or not) will be ignored and the note will play until the sample end. If you need to use silent loops for a certain special feature then you need to treat the sample as sustaining and it will also require a release marker (cue marker).

etcetera,
If you email me I can send you code and a chime sample rank made from the tubular MIDI bells in Windows. You must have a legal copy of Windows to use them. You can hear my chimes on my Web site in the "What Child Is This?" track.

Hi Brett,

thanks - but nope, no difference.

To check I also patched another install set to do the same, by just setting
<IsPercussive>Y</IsPercussive>
on one of it's ranks - same there, no effect.
And yes - I did a full uninstall/install of the set...

- unless there is some caching that I am not aware of?
I see that removing a set from \CachedSampleData forces a rebuild...

Hi Cole,

love to do that, but can't see any email address?
(I am new here - so maybe I am just too old/slow in finding things?)
Or did you mean to to use the PM message instead?

(UPDATE 12/05: found an email address on your website, trying that...)

Still stuck on this... Anyone?
I've done tons of changes, simple and advanced, including adding a full Crescendo implementation, but an easy thing as getting my Chimes to be treated as percussive is still pending. Obviously there is more to it than just <IsPercussive>Y</IsPercussive>, otherwise I would guess this should have been OK by now...

Hello Magne,

From your email address and user name on this forum I cannot find that you have a Haptwerk license, if you do please just let me know the name your license was ordered under. We cannot generally provide CODM support for users here that are using the Free Edition or otherwise, so perhaps someone else may be able to assist. If you do have a license then please accept my apologies.

Thank you.

Hi Brett,

you are right - I am not a paying user yet - but soon to be.
OTOH I do free Hauptwerk presentations for other pot. users, so I asked here in good faith.
But - I understand the principle.
(PS- I did not initially post in this forum, but the thread was moved here)

I did get some ODF samples from Cole (Thanks!) but they seemed to be V1 conversions. My set uses V2/3 <StopRank> objects, so they were too different...

Still, any chance of sending me the "Sample Sets for Hauptwerk guide" ?
