From 1/10/2016 until 1/23/2016, Menards has reduced their Indoor Remote Outlet 3-Pack (SKU 363-5419) to half price at $8.USD. Gives you mains (120 VAC) control for 3 independent circuits (13-amp, 1625-Watt Resistive, 8-amp, 1,000-watt tungsten) each receiver from a small 6 button controller - at up to 66 feet.
I could see several uses for this system such as turning on various (across the room) powered speakers or for controlling power to hard to get at components inside a console. Esp at that price, could be useful. Unfortunately you can only have 3 controlled circuits as the rf frequencies being used are not adjustable, but 3 is good enough in many cases.
