Hauptwerk Virtual Pipe Organ

Folks,

Some of you may have been following the lengthy thread over in the Amplification section where we've discussed lots of speaker and audio-related issues for an organ I am "building" for my church.

I am very intrigued at the MGB eStop and iStop. Since these are both relatively new, I'm wondering how many of you have actually used them? I'm not questioning the quality or reliability, but I'm mostly curious as to how you've integrated them into your console(s). (ie woodworking, bezels, cutouts, wiring, etc.)

I have a III-Manual Allen that I am converting....



My main concern is that the eStop and iStop are much too large to use with the existing SAMS configuration/layout on the console. This means moving all of those around, and inevitably, eating up a lot of room on the console. And if I'm going to have to space all of those out from one another, would I not be better off just doing away with them altogether and using something else? Suggestions? Even parts from organ suppliers - tilting tabs, rocker tabs, momentary push-botton switches, etc.

I'm mainly curious to know if anyone has any experience working with these units? Since they are so new, I'm assuming that not a lot of people have integrated them into their consoles yet.

Generally there is more "real estate" to work with when using drawknobs vs tilt tabs or other tabs. But even there, might be a line of sight issue as the eStops would need to be mounted on the draw knob back board. While neat and cool to have the stop ID change with each sample set, the cost of the feature is pretty high not only in $$ but in other considerations as well. I've seen pictures of curved drawknob rails with a slot that was used for a small slide in ID label strip. So it's not a perfect (virtual) world. No doubt the master real pipe organ builders of old didn't have these problems. And their stop labels are still in use today.
