Disassembling a Hoffrichter console - anyone else done it?

PostWed Apr 11, 2018 9:42 am

I'm trying to remove the Fatar keyboards from my 3 manual Hoffrichter block, in order to replace worn out tracker-touch bubbles. The first manual was screwed directly to the bottom plate, so that was easy enough to remove. I'm stuck, however, trying to remove the two upper manuals. It seems to me I'll have to remove the top plate first, but when I remove the screws that appear to hold it in place, it still won't come off. Makes me wonder if some parts are in fact glued together.

There are some more screws I could try to remove, but they are unreasonably hard to get at – impossible to unscrew without specialist tools. Ideally I'd like to take this thing apart in the reverse order of how it was put together in the first place. Does anyone here know what that order might be?

Alright, I finally figured it out. The top plate can be removed by loosening (not removing) six small screws that you can get at by removing the back plate. That was not too difficult once I realized I could use an angled key (like the ones that come with IKEA furniture, but with an appropriate torx head) to unscrew them. I'll post some pictures when I'm done with the refurbishment.
