Touch screen monitors for Macs

PostSun Oct 21, 2012 7:20 am

I wanted to install two touchscreen monitors with my Hauptwerk which is using a MacPro. I have heard that only a few touch-screen brands work with the Mac. I find this hard to believe since I was able to hook up any normal monitor to my Mac.

Is it true that only a few brands of touch-screens work ? Will the Acer T230H touchscreen work ? Any help would be appreciated.

The HP L2105TM touch screen works very well with the Touch Base drivers (http://touch-base.com
The Touch Base drivers support a large number of touch screens.

The cost of 2 of those touchscreens and 2 software downloads makes this quite costly - near $1000 US. Is there a less expensive solution for a MacBook Pro?

All of the Magic touch overlays have Mac drivers. At least AFAIK.

I read up on the KEYTEC add-on magic touch screens. They require a USB port to operate; however, both of mine are taken. Will this screen work if I plug it into a USB hub along with my HW dongle?

Also, I would use it with my MacBook Pro, taking it on and off daily. Is this time-consuming? Will I have to recalibrate ior program the magic screen every day when I put it on my laptop?

I know this sounds funny but the answer to all of your questions is "probably".
I think that a powered hub would be better but it is another wall-wart to lug around.

Recent addition to the HP line is the L2206tm.
Still 21.5" and allows multitouch.
In the US, about $280 each several places.

This monitor looks very promising. Will it work under OS-X Mountain Lion?

Anyone experiencing problems with their keytec monitor? I suggest contacting
Robby Yu at KeyTec robby@magictouch.com. The link he can provide also has a PDF in the folder which explains about calibration if you're setting it up for the first time (must be done in the iMac System Preferences). It works on Yosemite OS, but as of this writing he was not sure about El Capital OS
I'm finding the setup of KeyTec touch screen ViewSonic with iMac Pro a good solution.
