Best Partioning Of HW on two SSD

PostSun Dec 21, 2014 8:33 am

I have learnt that HW can be partitioned and installed on different drives, if the rules described in the user-manual are observed.

My problem:
- my dedicated special breed organ WIN machine has only one mirco SSD of 120 free GB, which now turns out to be to small and can only be replaced for a lot of money.
- I plan to install a second ca 500GB normal SSD, which for technical reasons given by the special breed can not be made the OS-Drive.

My question:
- how do I best "partition" the HW installation, so that the HW parts kept on the OS-Drive are as small as possible.

Thanks in advance for any hint or advice!

I put everything on a normal drive EXCEPT the organ caches which go on my 512 SSD.
That way the organs, once cached, load as quick as possible.
I don't care about the speed loss when booting up on a regular drive since I leave it sleeping most of the time.

Hello Amun,

I guess the answer partially depends on how many sample sets you have in your configuration? This triggers how much space you need for your setup.
