Hauptwerk on Windows 10

PostWed Aug 12, 2015 8:36 pm

I do apologize if this has been covered already. I did do a search but was unable to find anything.

Have any of you Windows folks upgraded your Hauptwerk computer to Windows 10? I have one Windows 8.1 unit and my Hauptwerk computer which is running on Windows 7. I'm being reminded often that I can upgrade to version 10 for free at this time. I certainly hesitate to do so on my Hauptwerk system, however, if there's any chance, at all, that doing so will cause problems of any kind with what I consider to be my most valued possession -- my Hauptwerk virtual pipe organ!

Thanks,
-Chris

Hello Chris,

I have upgraded to Windows 10 without problems, but I don't have any MIDI hardware (I'm controlling Hauptwerk using a sequencer). A good place to check out is the Computer hardware / specs forum section (linked below); many users seems to have upgraded to Windows 10 without issues :).

Hello Chris,

(Topic moved here.)

We're still testing, but it does appear to work fine so far:

However, for a computer system used for public performance my advice would be not to risk using a new, and relatively unproven, operating system yet. Windows 8.1 is the safer bet at this time for a 'critical installation'.

No problem. Unfortunately, it seems that the forum software's search function ignores '10' because it considers it too short a search term.
