I would add the caveat that if you want to add any new hardware/drivers/software subsequently, or update anything at all (e.g. a subsequent version of Hauptwerk) then you might find you need to apply all other available OS X and driver updates at that point in time, since new versions of software, hardware and drivers will probably have been developed with/for, and may rely upon, the then-current operating system and driver versions/components.

Maybe so. Let's hope they all continue to support Windows 7 for a long time to come! A very venerable, successful, and well-established Operating System. And being installed on my own brand-new system being delivered this week!
