So, my (almost) 10-year old i7 PC has gotten to the point where it simply can’t run the new 4 and 6 channel sets - it simply doesn’t have the horsepower for that kind of polyphony. It was a beast when I bought it - 4 cores and 24gb of RAM seemed like plenty
So, I’ve taken delivery of a dual-Xeon machine with 16 total cores and 128gb of RAM... it is a lease-return refurb, but so far seems like it is in excellent shape. It will take awhile to load over 440gb of sample sets, but I’m sure once that’s done I’m going to enjoy it.
The other reason for upgrading is that I will need a machine of this scope to load some of the sets I’m currently developing... it seems wrong for the developer to not even be able to completely load and test his own sets!
Cheers,
