Who of us cares as long as our HW 'puter doesn't connect to The Net? As long as we can still disable SuperFetch on a new build. BTW, I was in a discussion recently regarding the date and time settings. Over time, with our HW computers being off line, the internal clock would need to be reset manually if you want it to be "correct". Not really a big deal.

Things are different with our online computers of course.
And now you can’t uninstall the new Edge, the control panel is going away, and almost every new update seems to break something else. Hey, at least you’ll have antivirus.

You still can disable Defender manual, but not using a small program like Defender Control (https://www.sordum.org/9480/defender-control-v1-6/), which can do it very easily. Since August 11 such a program is detected as malware and removed from the PC. And now the registry key is removed for disabling Defender.

I agree with you, Microsoft still breaks things in Windows10 and add things like all kind of Xbox utilities, we are not waiting for it.

As far as online security, I use Malwarebytes and Windows has shut down Defender automatically.

M/S isn't doing much if anything for "us" as small niche users. Having said that, overall, IMHO, Windows has become more robust over time, and that's good. Not many BSOD's as long as we don't "mess" with it.
