Loading Stereo Organ Samples in Mono

PostSun Dec 07, 2014 12:58 pm

How does HW4 treat stereo organ samples when mono is selected? R and L combined? How?
Does it vary for different organs?

Hello Glenn,

It picks just the loudest channel (to avoid phase cancellation from mixing both channels) and then adjusts its amplitude to be the average amplitude of the original sample's left and right channels.
Best regards, Martin.

Hello Martin,

Does the "octaves cycled, octaves and ranks cycled" distribute the sound the same regardless of how the organ is loaded in mono or stereo? If no, what is the difference?

Regards,
Glenn

Yes. It (and any other pipe distribution algorithm) distributes pipes amongst logical outputs (i.e. entries in the left-hand browse list on the 'General settings | Audio outputs' screen), regardless of whether one, any, or all of those entries are mono or stereo.

Hello Martin,

In an instance of 8 logical outputs, Is the loudness of the output the same if the organ is loaded as 4 stereo pairs or 8 monos?

Glenn

Approximately, yes (all else being equal, such as amplifier levels).
Best regards, Martin.
