Passive alternative to B2031A

PostMon Feb 08, 2016 8:04 am

Can anybody suggest a passive alternative to the Behringer 2031A?
I'm looking for something with as much power, and in similar price range, but that doesn't need a mains power cable.
(There used to be a B2031P, but that was discontinued a couple of years ago.)

The 2031P models appear from time to time on Ebay and Craig's List. Not as popular as the "A" version but they are out there. In fact here is a pair here:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Behringer-TRUTH-B2031P-Passive-2-Way-Reference-Studio-Monitor-Speakers-/182011020467?hash=item2a60b3c4b3:g:O~gAAOSwvUlWr9j7

I'm looking for a pair myself to handle the surround channel. Probably overkill for surround but a decent Polk Audio book shelf set is about $117. I'm thinking I can grab a used pair or 2013P models for the same price with the added flexibility of changing them into a separate pipe rank channel if I wish. Plus aesthetically having all matching speakers is kind of cool.

Danny, Thanks for the thought and the eBay link.
But I'm based in UK and looking for something new, not used.

Hello Douglas,

Since the name Polk came up thought I'd throw my 2 cents worth in. I'm using 6 of their T-15's which my understanding is a US model only and exclusive to a few stores here (Best Buy as an example), but I do know they offer a number of as good or higher end bookshelf speakers for real reasonable money and they are available in the UK. I'd definitely recommend looking at / hearing them, very good stuff for the $$.
