I love mine - but my neighbors don't!! It's just a tiny 1000W unit but is good for starters - LOVE it with the Bovenkerk and some good ole Bach tunes when its raining outside...

Good note on not using a concert setup, especially since the church's sound engineer seems to think that he is going to get us to let him put that in! Does anyone have first hand experience reproducing 16hz on the low C for the 32' with the Rythmik Audio subwoofers? I have been referred to them multiple times.

I built a couple of these; I have one in my home setup.: http://theatreorgans.com/owenjones/audio.html

You can adjust the volume and brightness of each pedal stop to suit the environment. 18" speakers would be better for a church IMO.

Hi,
Bad proofreading. I was thinking but not typing ;>). I was thinking that one can't really sense the 32' stops even in my music room. There is a low sound, but it just can't develop and surround you. The last impressive 32' stops I have heard were from a Rogers console enhancement of an existing pipe organ in Oklahoma. The organist used the 32' in his finale. The room was brick 150 foot pentagon with a 20 ft. hard ceiling. The chambers were at the top in the rear.
I usually play show tunes etc. These at their heaviest use the Pizzicato 8', for string bass, over a 16' foundation flute or reed. They usually move too fast to allow a "heavy complex chord " to sink in. If I turn up the output it will punch it out, but it sounds like hip-hop for the rest of the register. Yes I like my setup. Now if my hands can get better at typing and much better at playing, I will be happy.

I recently saw/heard one of these in a HW installation in a church near Houston, Tx, and was very impressed.

You could get one of these for each member of the congregation. :)

Ha! Now there's an idea!

Subwoofer recommendations is probably one of the most covered topics here on the HW forum, and part of the issue with any sub is going to partly be the room size which allows or hampers those very low notes from developing. Being most of us don't own or are not in a large cathedral, there are going to be some compromises no matter what. I've recently had the chance again to hear two very good examples of sizable instruments in sizable spaces and you don't so much hear those very low notes, rather you feel them, i.e. the shaking part. It's more the combination of the 16' notes along with the 32's that make the sound part and really low 16's sound good too. As far as which sub to go with? I've studied several options brought up here, and if you're a DIY'er which seems to be the case for many Hauptwerkians, the Housewrecker looks like the hot ticket for both price and results. Any sub can be turned up too high causing unwanted results, that part I would not worry about with the Housewrecker or most any other for that matter. There is always 'too much of a good thing' with most anything.
