Room (Audio) Measurement System

PostWed Apr 13, 2016 8:43 pm

Caught my eye as in 8) Found this in a Parts Express flyer. Looks like an interesting item to bring audio out of the subjective (ears only) tool to real digital number(s).
http://www.parts-express.com/dayton-audio-omnimic-v2-computer-based-precision-room-measurement-system--390-792

On the page is also the operation manual
http://www.parts-express.com/pedocs/manuals/390-792--dayton-audio-omnimic-user-manual.pdf

and some other interesting stuff i.e, Quick Reference Guide:
http://www.parts-express.com/pedocs/more-info/390-792--dayton-audio-omnimic-quick-reference-guide.pdf

as well as user reviews. Mostly 5 star. I have no affiliation with PE other than as a sometimes customer.

Ideas?

Thanks for the link, Ed. This appears to be a very comprehensive system at a very reasonable price. It wasn't that long ago that a professional RTA system would have set you back tens of thousands.

I was impressed some by the quite positive reviews by those who bought and have used the system. That much positive is rare these days. It appears each mic is sampled as to it's individual frequency response characteristics and the system results take that into account. Makes for quite an accurate tool.

To measure the acoustics of a room is nice, but only a convolving tool equalizes the faults of a given room. I use this one:

You might also consider the fully automated measurment and correction systems like Arc2 and even better Dirac.

Room EQ Wizard is still free at http://www.roomeqwizard.com. This is an excellent package. Just reading the user manual is a worthwhile experience.
