Adding desparate studio monitors to your mix

Postby magnaton » Thu May 11, 2017 12:11 pm

There was an earlier thread asking about combing large 3-way speakers with studio monitors. What about adding different studio monitors (brand, power, size) that will be dedicated to certain ranks?

Case in point, Monoprice has their 5" studio monitors on sale for $130 a pair plus free shipping!

Thinking of getting 3 sets to dedicate 1 or 2 choice or solo ranks, experimenting amongst different organs of course.
Has anyone tried this? Am I asking for trouble trying to get them to blend with a large registration?

Current audio setup:
8-Behringer 2031A monitors
2-large 3 way tower speakers
2-passive studio monitors (Behringer 2031P) for surround.

Thanks,

Danny B.

As long as they are in their own speaker group covering certain ranks that fit into the speakers frequency spectrum, I don't think there should be a problem. They however probably won't play as loudly as your others if you push them hard. For normal volume levels in a residence, this is probably not an issue.
