SVS Ported Cylinder Subwoofer

Postby 4AmericanClassics » Sat May 13, 2017 10:20 am

Does anyone use an SVS Ported Cylinder Subwoofer? These are unique and the specs say they go down to 16 Hz minus 3 decibels. What's the advantages and disadvantages of this subwoofer? The SVS sealed 12 inch subwoofer is smaller and less expensive. Are sealed subwoofers as good as deep tuned ported subwoofers?

They're good - very very good. They go deep producing 32ft without any effort and can be extremely loud if you choose. I don't recall the model number I have but I believe I mentioned it on another thread.

I'm very happy with my PC12 Plus. Before that, I had a PC2000 for 12 years that was also good. Never tried the box shaped subs.

The Box shaped subs are also good. I have the PB-2000 and it kicks butt and takes names. I only wish I had two. Although, tbh, if I had to do over, I would have gone with the cylinders. A.) they are more pipe like, B.) they take up less floor space, and C.) they don't "aim" in any direction. Due to the down firing, you can expect a less directional sound.

Thanks everyone! Looks like it is unanimously positive! I'll get one in the near future.
