Sentinel LDK Run-time environment error

PostMon Aug 18, 2014 6:19 am

Greetings!
I downloaded and installed Hauptwerk free edition only yesterday - and what a wonderful piece of software it is!
However, today it will not launch instead I get the following message:
"waiting until Sentinel LDK run-time is available"
then after 60s: "System time has been altered (H0045)"
I did change the date on my system, however no amount of rebooting, changing back the date has helped -

any help would be most welcome! thanks
(XP32 - 4G RAM)

Hello and thanks again for the interest in Hauptwerk.

I also replied to your similar email to us on this as follows:

Sorry to hear about the problem. Some questions:

- Are you using a Mac or Windows?

- What version of the operating system are you using?

- When you installed Hauptwerk, were any errors reported during the installation (especially related to installation of the SafeNet/Sentinel driver)?

- Do you have Hauptwerk set to launch automatically when the computer boots? If so, does it launch properly if you try to launch it manually by double-clicking on its desktop icon?

However, I see that you've answered some of those questions indirectly via your post here.

I think that the problem will be that you altered your PC's clock significantly, which will have invalidated the key that allows Hauptwerk to launch (when no Hauptwerk USB key is attached).

I'll email instructions to you a little later today to install a new key (sorry I don't have them to hand at this moment).

As a general note, it's very important for most software, including Hauptwerk, that your computer's clock is kept (approximately) correct, since lots of software relies on timestamps.
Best regards, Martin.

Thanks for your swift response - I will post on this thread as it might be useful for others later:
Answers to your questions:
- OS: XP32
- no problems whatsoever during installation
- app manually launched from desktop icon -

and yes, the battery in my CMOS needs replacing - so the date and time were probably off by a decade or so -
maybe a new clean install is the simplest way forward?

Thanks again for your help -

Thanks for the additional info. Do you mean performing a clean install of Windows itself? If so, I think that could be a good idea, since other applications (or even parts of Windows) might possibly not behave correctly if the clock had been significantly wrong.

I meant reinstalling Hauptwerk -
I have no other time stamp issues at this time, so a new windows install seems overkill -

I've uninstalled (using the tool provided) Hauptwerk and re-installed it - unfortunately the problem remains which suggests that some of the previous installation files weren't deleted.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance -

Yes -- just re-installing Hauptwerk wouldn't be expected to help.

I'll send you a link to install a new key a little later today (as mentioned erlier).
Best regards, Martin.

Hi, I upgraded my Free edition (saving up for Christmas for the full product :D ) from 4.0 to 4.1 this morning and now get a similar error, although not related to time issue.

After 60 secs it simply tells me no licence can be found, but I can't get in to get hold of a temporary key. Any assistance appreciated.

Windows 7 Pro, 8Gb RAM, Dell Optiplex 780

Thanks

Paul

Hello Paul,

Many thanks for the interest in Hauptwerk.

Please try:

- Apply all current Windows updates. (Use Windows Update to check for updates, apply all available, reboot, then keep repeating until there are no more. Note that you might need to click the 'check for updates' button twice before Windows actually does the check.)

- Try re-running the Hauptwerk v4.1.0 installer. Please let us know whether you get any errors during the installation (particularly relating to the installation of the SafeNet/Sentinel driver), and whether the installer reports that installation was successful at the end. Note that you will need to acknowledge messages from the SafeNet/Sentinel driver's installer, and that that those messages might possibly appear behind other windows (usually only if you switch the Windows input focus to other applications while waiting).

- Reboot the computer.

Please let us know whether that fixes it. If it doesn't, has your PC's clock been sigificantly incorrect since you first installed v4.1.0? Also, do you have Hauptwerk set to launch automatically when Windows boots?

Thanks.
Best regards, Martin.

Thanks Martin,

When I get home tonight I will double check there are no new Windows updates. It updated this morning, as did Java Runtime.

I had already tried re-running the updater which ran successfully through to completion. PC & Windows time are both OK and haven't been changed by me.

No, Hauptwerk isn't set to run automatically

Back soon :)

Thanks - it worked!

I am not sure which step was the crucial one but there was one more Windows Update, and two attempts at running the updater. The second time I spotted the OK buttons for the uninstall and install stages of the Sentinel bit and clicked them.

Regards - Paul :D :D :D
