Steam Calliope, noob question 2

PostMon May 04, 2015 10:53 am

I've just loaded HW and have St Anne's, the Mietke harpsichord, and the Pipeloops Steam Calliope.

St Anne's and the Mietke work, though I have some problems, but the Calliope doesn't make a sound.

Is it not compatible with HW 4 free version? It loads without error, gets MIDI from the keyboard, but doesn't make any sound.

Hi,
you need to click on the steam valve to turn it on!

Enjoy!

Thanks, will try that tonight.

I thought I did try that but maybe I wasn't in the right place.

Is it adjustable or just on/off? I looked for a volume control.

Its on/off, you will see the wheel turning and then it should produce sound.

Hah! As I suspected it was operator error.

I thought I was turning on the valve, but I had my mouse on the gauge instead. As soon as I clicked the right place I got sound.

That's a very nice sound!

This was the fastest and easiest download and installation I have ever done.....Very neat little addition to my growing set of organs and keyboards.....less than 5 minutes!!! Remembering back several years when I first discovered Hauptwerk and didn't know my arse from a hole in the wall, but I now have learned so much and truly enjoy this VPO & VTPO collection....Oh.. and thanks for pointing out the "air valve" for the Calliope, I probably would have had the same problem......◔̯◔
Thanks', JR

It's a very realistic sound.

It's a little quiet but I'll figure that out. I know, RTM.

As an engineer I can't resist pointing out something. In real life you never crank a steam valve open wide right away. You crack it a little to let it heat up, as soon as it's hot you can operate it normally.
