I think you mean the commercial sample sets. If so then most of them are encrypted and need the presence of the USB key to decrypt them. There are also size (<3GB) and polyphony (256) limits on the Free edition. There are lots of organs that WILL play in the free edition though.

Hello Mauricio,

The Hauptwerk sample files can either be .wav (unencrypted) or .hbw (encrypted). The .hbw formated files are encrypted and cannot be used or edited in other programs allowinng sample producers to have copy protection available for their sample sets.

Some of the free instruments and trial/evaluation instruments use .hbw format and some can be used along with the Free edition and others not depending on how the producer formatted the samples. On the instrument downloads page each instrument has a View info > link which will inform you whether or not it can be used with the Free Edition or evaluation editions of Hauptwerk.

Is it possible to encrypt without USB key?

In order to encrypt samples you must have the Hauptwerk USB key and also a special update to this key which we primarily reserve for developers creating commercial sample sets.

I hope that helps.
