No temperaments for imported version 1 organs.

PostSun Oct 10, 2010 4:33 pm

I've imported a couple of harpsichords originally made using version 1 file format. The "Temperament" menu is always disabled, even if the "Disable Interpolation" option is not checked in both "General Settings" and "Organ Settings" menus. This seems to be the standard behavior for all the version 1 imported organs.
I'm right or there is some setting to edit?

Best regards

Hello MT,

Version 1 instruments have no pitch information either in the samples or within the organ definition file, so by default this option is deliberatly disabled since it cannot work without the proper pitch information of the original samples. Hauptwerk v 1 had no facility for specifying pitch of the samples which is required in order to change temperaments accurately.

All version 2 instruments and beyond generally have this information included so unless the producer specifically disables the temperament options you can use a native Hauptwerk 2/3 instrument and temperaments will be available.

Thus there is nothing wrong since that is intended.

Hello MT,

if the samples are exactly tuned to equal temperament, there is a possibility to tweak the ODF generated by the import facility of hauptwerk. But this is the prerequisite for this approach. Could you let me know which sampleset you are interested in?

Another approach would be to overwork the samples and insert the precise tuning of each sample - but this is a bit time consuming.

You can play Bach on every organ.
