Getting Started: Multiple Releases

PostThu Mar 29, 2012 8:47 pm

I've read that, when recording an organ "wet," one should record each note several times, with different durations. But I haven't seen any details on this, so I am looking for info on the subject. Here are some questions:

* What are durations you've used in your projects? I know this is subject to the acoustic, but I'm interested in hearing what folks have done.
* How do you get durations of consistent length? I can imagine looking at a stopwatch to get a 1 second duration, and perhaps a .5 second duration, but shorter than that?
* Do you record all ranks with the same set of durations? Or do some ranks need more releases than others?

Thanks for any advice!

Stephen
