Position_RankDistanceFromListenerMetres

PostSun Feb 19, 2017 6:13 am

For our new sampleset I didn't change the microphone position during the recording and placed the mics in front of the Positiv. So the ranks sound rather dry in comparison to the other divisions.

In the CODM I found an entry like in the subject. Does it have another influence to the sound except of the amplitude? We have set the value of the entry to 1 for all divisions.

Otherwise, does the CODM provide a possibility for the ranks to sound more wet?

Thanks in advance for your help.
Best regards
Thomas

Hello Thomas,

Currently the setting only affects the relative stereo channel (panning) amplitudes, and only if mono samples (i.e. mono WAV files) are used and played back in stereo.

Hauptwerk doesn't currently have native functionality to add reverb/wetness to samples (except by the user adding external reverb, e.g. via a hardware reverb unit or via a VST plug-in), although we do hope to add native convolution reverb functionality in the future (as well as more native surround-sound ability). The setting might possibly affect those things in the future, but for now it just affects panning mono into stereo (and only if the WAV files are mono).
Best regards, Martin.
