Tuning samples in original pitch

PostSat Jul 29, 2017 10:37 am

Hello,
Is there possibility to tune samples via ODF while in Original pitch mode? Or is there any easy way to perform that, than editing each file (each sustain file and each release file) separately and perform pitch shift by ear?

Hello Puciak,

Not within the CODM (which will always use the samples' true pitches for the output pitch when the user selects 'original organ tuning'). In the full ODF format it's possible to specify an output pitch for each pipe that can be different from its sample's pitch using the following two attributes:

- Pipe_SoundEngine01.Pitch_OriginalOrgan_SpecificationMethodCode,
- Pipe_SoundEngine01.Pitch_OriginalOrgan_PitchHz.

Thank you for response. So in Sample table I should set Pitch_SpecificationMethodCode=4, Pitch_ExactSamplePitch=(here write true pitch detected from sample) and in Pipe_SoundEngine01 set Pitch_OriginalOrgan_SpecificationMethodCode=1 and Pitch_OriginalOrgan_PitchHz=(calculated, desired pitch)?
And what about changing temperaments then, Hauptwerk will use only pitch information supplied in Sample table?

Hello Puciak,

That would be valid, although you could also use Pitch_SpecificationMethodCode=1 ('Read precise pitch from sampler chunk in sample file') if the pitch is stored in the sample. The important thing is that they specify the true pitch of the sample.

Correct.

Correct. The Pitch_OriginalOrgan_... attributes are only used when the user selects 'original organ tuning' instead of a temperament.
